Our Yayoi Kusama collection defines our overall collection of artwork at the Forever Museum of Contemporary Art (FMOCA). As a debut event to mark our opening in Gion, Kyoto, we are holding the "YAYOI KUSAMA: My Soul Forever" FMOCA collection exhibition.
For the first phase of this exhibition, we are displaying 82 of the 376 Kusama works in our permanent collection. Works shown include original pieces from 1950 to 2008 as well as print works from 1979 to 1990, all of which provide visitors with a general overview of Kusama's works up into the 1990s. Near the museum's outside entrance, we have installed a permanent work of public art to serve as the symbol of our museum: one of Kusama's pumpkin pieces, measuring 5 meters (approx. 16 feet) in diameter.
